Sausage Pinwheels

What is a staple in your house? For some, it’s chicken or bread or peanut butter. For us, it’s Italian sausage. Whenever it’s on sale, I stock up and fill up the freezer. Whenever we’re unsure what to cook, we defrost some Italian sausage and go from there.

Sometimes, like last night, we make appetizers for dinner. These sausage pinwheels are perfect as a meal but also to serve if you’re having a party.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • Marinara sauce
  • Servings: 2-3 as full meal, 10 as appetizer
  • Difficulty: easy

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray baking sheets with cooking spray and set aside.

Brown/cook sausage. Drain fat.

Unroll the crescent roll dough and push together the perforations. Spread cheese over dough and then sprinkle the sausage crumbles over the cheese.

Roll dough into pinwheel shape. It should look like a long log. Cut or use dental floss to roll into ten slices. Place on baking sheets.

Bake 15-20 minutes. Serve with warm marinara sauce and enjoy!

    Italian sausage as a staple—–I could see how that would work. I have sausage on hand, but not normally Italian. Geez this is a simple recipe. And you know what? It looks like
    you did something—-you know like spent hours in the kitchen. Bravo!
