Chocolate Waffles

Jul 23

I could eat breakfast food for all three meals of the day– or I could make dessert for breakfast :)

We received a double waffle maker as a shower present, and it is wonderful– but it makes waffles for an army and not just two people.

So, not only did I make regular waffles but also chocolate ones! We had regular waffles for breakfast and then warmed up the chocolate waffles for dessert with dinner. We sprinkled a little powdered sugar over top, and they were heavenly! Perfect breakfast/dessert. You be the judge.

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbs baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Powdered sugar
  • Servings: 4 for a meal, 6-8 for dessert
  • Difficulty: easy

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Beat in eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Stir in cocoa powder.

Stir until combined, but the batter still should be a little lumpy.

Preheat waffle iron, and spray with cooking spray. Use 1/2-3/4 measuring cup onto waffle iron. Bake according to waffle iron instructions.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar upon serving.
