BBQ Beef Brisket {Slow Cooker}

Aug 27

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for the Beef Checkoff. I received products to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating. All opinions are 100% my own!

Last Sunday was draft day, and it was a big day in our household. Draft day might be my hubby’s favorite day of the year– it’s when he drafts a team for not one, but two, fantasy football leagues.

A couple of years ago, I don’t think my husband could name more than a handful of professional sports teams, but fantasy football has changed all that, and I kind of like hearing about football at the dinner table and don’t mind when he downloads a fantasy football app on my phone to check the scores when we aren’t watching the games.

As you can imagine, draft day is serious business. During the draft a Google+ hangout was used, so team managers from his league could all trash-talk as they picked their teams. We had several people over at our house, and I felt like a good piece of beef was in order, BBQ beef brisket to be exact. It seemed fitting :)

If you’re looking for a good beef recipe, check out http://www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com/. Tons of great recipes and tips for how to cook beef! We normally use the grill for everything, but the BBQ brisket for draft day was made in the handy-dandy slow cooker. But I couldn’t pass up on showing these tips for grilling– even the hubby learned something new!

The brisket was a huge success we made three pounds, and even with several men in attendance, there were still leftovers. Meal 1- Beef Brisket Sandwich…and then came the leftovers (which make prettier pictures). Meal 2 was brisket with couscous and spinach, and meal 3 was brisket over mashed potatoes.

So we ate like kings and queens for several days- score!

Here’s more about Beef Checkoff– it was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. It’s a national marketing and research program funded by America’s cattle farmers and ranchers. It funds research and promotion efforts designed to increase domestic and/or international demand for beef.

    Brisket isn’t as big here in New England as it is in the south, so it’s not that easy to find. This sounds really tasty, though!!

      Sweet Baby Ray’s! Is there anything else?

  20. Chrystal @ YUM eating Aug 29 at 12:15 pm Reply

    Brisket is one of my favorite cuts of meat. In March we turn it into corned beef. Because I love brisket so much we tend to use dry rubs to bring out the natural flavors. I spent most of my life in the south but never got in to BBQ sauce too much.

    • Elizabeth Sep 02 at 4:37 pm Reply

      Dry rubs are great! We normally do both, but I’m sure some dry rub on the grill would be great too!
